Continuing my series of monthly check-ins to see how solopreneur and therapy work is going…
What is going well, what's not going so well, and what I'm doing about it!
Borrowing my first check-in prompt from my actual therapy sessions...
How are you?
I’m good! I’ve just had a week away with my daughter for half-term. (How quick was it between Easter holidays and May half-term btw?!). I really enjoy having a change of scenery, seeing friends/family, and generally mixing it up!
What are your wins this month?
I really enjoyed attending my friend’s wedding! 💃🏻🪩It was a gorgeous☀️day, great chat, delicious food, and quality time with my husband 💜
I’ve added something new to my services: An EMDR intensive.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, a type of therapy that helps people process difficult or traumatic experiences so they no longer feel stuck or triggered by them.
An intensive involves several EMDR sessions close together to work through a specific trauma memory. I worked with
to develop the structure of the intensive, and I’m looking forward to helping clients experience effective change within a shorter space of time. You can find out more here:I gained some insights from my lovely Substack readers to help shape this publication going forward. This quote made my day 😅:
“Nothing is too long/short/boring - it’s GREAT!”
Insights:
1 post per week was the preferred frequency - goodbye 3-4 per week! (I know that only happened for 1 week 🤭)
These check-ins inspire you to check-in with yourself - have you reflected on your May yet? 😊
My honesty is appreciated - it’s where true learning comes from I reckon.
You guys are a curious bunch - we have that in common! 🤗
You’re open to me delivering a paid workshop… watch this space!

What has not gone so well this month?
As I have been away for holidays and trips, there has been limited progress in certain aspects of the business. I have a self-paced course which I would’ve liked to have finished. The core aspects of the business have been ticking over.
How are you going to approach next month?
I’m going to slow the pace down, I’m going to spend more time at home, and spend more time alone. I’m a sociable introvert, I love spending time with people and then I like to be by myself 😂 IYKYK.
During my alone time, I will tick off my list of tasks to complete. I find the Pomodoro technique helpful to focus my mind. Have you tried it?
Pomodoro technique
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that helps you get stuff done by working in short, focused bursts with regular breaks.
Here’s how it works:
Pick a task you want to work on.
Set a timer for 25 minutes – this is called one "Pomodoro".
Work on the task with no distractions until the timer goes off.
Take a 5-minute break – stretch, grab a cuppa, scroll guilt-free.
After 4 Pomodoros, take a longer break (15–30 minutes).
It works well if:
You get distracted easily
You procrastinate
You feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start
You’re tired of working for hours and still feeling like you got nothing done
The idea is: short bursts + regular breaks = more done with less stress.
