#1 Therapreneur Check-in - July 2024
My new monthly series checking in on my business and my wellbeing...
Number one in a series of monthly check-ins to explore how solopreneur life is going, therapy work, what is going well, what's not going so well, and what I'm doing about it. Thanks for joining me!
Background
I started my business in September 2023 and I work 1 day a week in private practice. I work with self-funding clients which requires online marketing. I have a website, a business Instagram account, and I am on Psychology Today. One of my goals for the summer was to expand my marketing efforts. Most of my referrals so far have come via ‘word of mouth’ which I really appreciate and I want to be able to generate referrals myself.
Borrowing my first check-in prompt from my actual therapy sessions...
How are you?
I'm OK! My week is going well so far. I'm feeling chirpy today, the sun is shining, and I enjoyed chatting to my friend last night with some rosé!
What are your wins this month?
I've felt productive! My new downloadable resource has been released into the world after weeks in the making. It's called 6 Steps to Navigate Self-Doubt in your 30s. My email marketing has gone live, and I'm looking forward to seeing how that goes.
I started Instagram Summer School run by
. There are daily challenges to follow and I'm on 3/3 so far! It's designed to reignite our joy for Instagram with mindset support, co-working, and Q+A sessions.I started my Substack! I have been reading and liking for a few months, and decided to join in! I submitted a piece about rejection to
which was emotional and fun to write.I enjoyed spending time in the sunshine with my daughter, we visited Bowood House and Gardens last weekend.
What has not gone so well this month?
I have had some nights with difficulty getting to sleep. Last week my brain was fizzing with ideas!! I found it difficult to switch off. I had to have a word with myself on Thursday and I put some boundaries in place to separate business from home life and be intentional about winding down in the evenings.
Overwhelm'o'meter rating: 5/10 - it did peak last week but it has settled now
How are you going to approach next month?
Putting in boundaries has already improved my sleep so I'm going to keep them in place. I'm going to gently engage with Instagram Summer School and embrace the joy and support from it, rather than adding it to my to-do list in a way that feels like it's just getting longer!
